White pizza sauce
This white pizza sauce is similar to a light garlic Alfredo sauce. It is made with simple ingredients and takes about 5 minutes to make. This homemade pizza sauce is much better than the sauce at many chain pizzerias.
- Butter - 2 tbsp. (unsalted)
- Flour - 2 tbsp.
- Milk - 300 ml. (2% or whole milk)
- Sea salt - 1/4 tsp.
- Black pepper - 1/8 tsp.
- Garlic - 2 cloves, pressed or finely grated
- Parmesan cheese - 25 gr. (1/4 cup)
Mix 1/4 teaspoon of salt, 1/8 teaspoon of black pepper and pressed garlic (garlic should be finely grated or pressed through a press).
In a small saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter. Whisk in flour and continue whisking for 1–2 minutes (do not let it brown).
Whisk constantly until smooth, thick, and bubbly. Slowly add the milk, whisking constantly.
Toss the mixture with the garlic, pepper, and salt.
Mix the Parmesan cheese and beat for another 30 seconds. Whisk until the cheese is melted, and the sauce is smooth, then remove from heat and set aside to cool before use on pizza. Do not boil the sauce after adding the cheese, or the sauce may curdle.
After the sauce has cooled, cover and refrigerate for up to 5 days.
It turns out 360 gr. of pizza sauce, or a portion sufficient for 4 (25 cm) pizzas.
