What do we need for potato salad?

- Salad Dressing is a creamy and tangy salad dressing. This is the main difficulty of this recipe because it is difficult to buy HEINZ salad dressing in Ukraine.
- The white pepper is a must, it really makes this dish pop! You don’t need a lot, about ¼ teaspoon.
- Potatoes – Any potato will do. And when using young potatoes, you can even leave the skin (if you want), but wash it thoroughly.
How to make potato salad with salad and cream dressing?
- Peel the potatoes and cut them into small pieces, then boil for about 7-9 minutes until ready. Drain and let cool slightly (they don’t have to cool completely).
- Put the potatoes in a bowl with the finely chopped onion, mayonnaise, creamy salad dressing, white pepper (yes, it HAS to be white) and a pinch of salt.
- Stir, then cover and refrigerate until completely chilled (at least 30 minutes or overnight).
👩🍳 PRO TIP: Do not leave the potatoes to cool for too long, as cooked potatoes can turn gray after a while (usually about 15–20 minutes). This is due to an enzyme in the potato that reacts to air. Once the potatoes are mixed with other ingredients, the risk of them turning gray disappears.
Such a salad is ideal for a buffet table, a picnic, or a barbecue.

Creamy potato salad recipe

Easy recipe for creamy potato salad! Even a child can handle its preparation, but the taste is worthy of a Michelin star!
Ingredients
- Potatoes – 5 pcs. (Medium size)
- Onion – ½ pc. (small size), peeled and chopped very finely
- Fat-free mayonnaise – 6 tbsp. l.
- Salad dressing** – 3 tbsp. l.
- White pepper – ¼ tsp. (This is mandatory, it cannot be replaced with black pepper)
- Salt – a pinch (to taste)
To Serve:
- Chopped fresh chives – 1 tbsp, optional
- Pinch of black pepper – optional
Instructions
Place the potatoes in a saucepan and cover with cold water. Bring to a boil and cook for 7–9 minutes until ready. Drain the water and transfer the potatoes to a bowl. Let it cool down.
Add onion, mayonnaise, salad cream, white pepper and salt.
Mix everything together so that the ingredients are well combined. Taste and add a little more seasoning if needed.
Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes before serving.
Just before serving, sprinkle with chopped chives and a little black pepper, if desired.

** Salad cream
Salad cream is a creamy and tangy salad dressing. In Ukraine, you can buy this product from the manufacturer Heinz. But don't get confused with sauces – this is precisely the cream for the salad.
The salad can be stored in a well-closed form for 2–3 days in the refrigerator.
